Maureen C. Ackerly, Esquire
Maureen graduated with honors from Duke University and William & Mary School of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and Law Review. After law school, she clerked for The Honorable Marvin J. Garbis in the U.S. District Court of Maryland, then practiced with the trusts and estates group at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York before moving to Richmond in 1998. Maureen practiced with McGuireWoods for eleven years until she joined Armstrong Bristow Farley & Schwarzschild in 2009.
Maureen’s practice focuses on estate and trust planning for individuals and families, tax planning, business succession planning for closely held businesses, and estate and trust administration for beneficiaries and fiduciaries.
Maureen was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel (“ACTEC”) in 2007, and is a member of the Trust Administrators Council of Richmond and the Estate Planning Council of Richmond. Maureen has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America since 2007, as a Virginia "Super Lawyer" in Estate Planning and Probate Law in Law and Politics magazine (2006-2011), and as one of Virginia's "Legal Elite" in Taxes, Estates and Trusts by Virginia Business Magazine (2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 - 2011).
Maureen is admitted to practice in Virginia and New York and is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Bar Association.
