Matthew M. Farley, Esquire
Matthew graduated the University of Richmond School of Law magna cum laude, where he was a member of the Law Review, the McNeil Honor Society and the Moot Court Board. Matthew earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
Matthew’s practice focuses on trust and estate planning for high net worth individuals and families, closely-held business planning, planning for individuals with special needs, trust and estate administration, and fiduciary litigation.
Prior to joining Armstrong Bristow Farley & Schwarzschild, Matthew was an attorney with Mays & Valentine LLP and Troutman Sanders LLP with an emphasis on trust and estate planning and litigation.
Matthew has been recognized in the Best Lawyers in America (2008 Edition) in the specialty of Trusts & Estates. Matthew also has been named one of Virginia’s “Legal Elite” in the category of Taxes, Trusts and Estates by Virginia Business magazine for 2005, 2006, and 2007, and has been recognized in 2006 as “Virginia Super Lawyers - Rising Stars” by the Law & Politics Journal and Richmond magazine. Matthew is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Richmond and the Virginia Gift Planning Council. Matthew serves on the Planned Giving Council for St. Christopher’s School, is a member of the Board of Directors for the Children's Home Society of Virginia, and he recently completed two terms on the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association.
Matthew has participated in several speaking engagements on such topics as Virginia’s Uniform Trust Code, estate planning and trust and estate administration.
Matthew is admitted to practice in Virginia and is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Bar Association. |
