John D. Bristow, Esquire
John graduated with high honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and Law Review. John also received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and his Masters of Accounting from the University of North Carolina.
John works with high net-worth individuals and their families and business owners primarily in the areas of estate and trust administration, estate and gift tax planning, business succession planning and general tax planning. John also has experience in estate planning for U.S. resident aliens, in establishing offshore trusts and in administering international estates and trusts.
John was formerly with Troutman Sanders LLP as an attorney in the Trust & Estate Practice Group. Prior to law school, John spent five years with Price Waterhouse LLP providing tax planning and compliance services primarily to closely held businesses and their owners.
John is a certified public accountant and is licensed to practice law in Virginia and North Carolina. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, North Carolina State Bar, American and Virginia Bar Associations and the Estate Planning Council of Richmond. John was also named one of Virginia’s “Legal Elite” by Virginia Business magazine for 2006.
John has spoken at continuing legal education seminars as well as to professional groups on various topics concerning tax planning and estate and trust planning and administration. |
