Jane Schwarzschild, Esquire
Jane graduated from Smith College and the University of Virginia School of Law. She joined Armstrong Bristow Farley & Schwarzschild PLC in September of 2007.
Jane’s practice focuses on estate and trust planning for high net worth individuals and families, business succession planning for closely held businesses, and estate and trust administration for beneficiaries and individual and corporate fiduciaries. Her engagements typically include related estate, generation-skipping, gift and fiduciary income tax advice.
Jane was head of the Trusts & Estates Practice Group at Troutman Sanders LLP and its predecessor firm, Mays & Valentine LLP, from 1995 until she joined Armstrong Bristow Farley & Schwarzschild PLC.
Jane has been a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estates Counsel since 1991. She has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America in trusts and estates law from 1993 through 2008. She also has been named annually as one of Virginia's "Legal Elite" in taxes, estates and trusts by Virginia Business magazine and as one of Virginia's "Super Lawyers" in estate planning and probate law by the Law & Politics Journal and Richmond magazine.
Jane is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Richmond, the Legislative Committee of the Wills, Trusts and Estates Section of the Virginia Bar Association, and the Board of Directors of the Richmond Forum. She previously served on the Governing Council of both the Wills, Trusts and Estates Section and the Domestic Relations Section of the Virginia Bar Association and the Board of Governors of the Trusts and Estates Section of the Virginia State Bar.
Jane has given numerous talks to both lawyers and laymen in the trust and estates area, she has written “The Legal Relationship of Parent and Child” for the Family Law and Practice Handbook and “Administration of Decedent’s Estates” for The Virginia Lawyer, and she has co-edited the Trusts and Estates Newsletter of the Virginia Bar Association.
Jane is admitted to practice in Virginia and is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Bar Association. |
